ABOUT
The Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheatre holds a rich history dating back to its construction in 1935 as part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the Great Depression. This iconic venue was the first and principal structure built in Oklahoma City by the civilian conservation corps, providing much-needed jobs for economic recovery. Constructed from Native Sandstone over the course of 1935 and 1936, workers even camped near the park during construction.
The Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheatre has been a beloved entertainment destination for generations, hosting a wide array of performances over the years. From the inaugural show, “The Circus of 21 Death-Defying Acts,” to performances by legendary artists such as Willie Nelson, Joni Mitchell, Grateful Dead, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top and The Eurythmics, the venue has seen an impressive lineup of talent grace its stage.
The historic Zoo Amphitheatre continues to be Oklahoma City’s treasured outdoor music venue.
